Östereotypes

Following our insight into Barcelona Design week, Pamela, Marie Therese and I stepped into the world of the stereotypes of Austrians that exist abroad, organised by Advantage Austria.

Austria was this year’s invited country during Barcelona Design Week, so this exhibit was like the warm up for the symposium at La Roca Design Gallery the next day.

A humorous and inteligent exhibition including customizable Do-It-Yourself-Posters by the Austrian design studio Proxi, a 14 square meter Word Puzzle and a church that was visible from only one point of view.

The fact of being able to see “La Casa de les Punxes” from inside (Advantage Austria has its offices there!) and taking the building’s ancient lift with benches incorporated was a highlight itself.

The Austrian wine was all it took for the assistants to mix and mingle (österreichisch or not) and start giggling over the ingenious and slighlty ironic exhibiton.

Too bad Armani was waiting for us and we didn´t get the chance to try the miniature sausages…what? Ins´t that all they eat?

We also found out that the purple Milka cow is dead when we saw its skin lying on the ground!!

You can visit this exhibit until 21st December in the offices of Delegación Comercial de Austria/Advantage Austria, Avda. Diagonal 420 3º2ª.

PD. Our exhibition for the Barcelona Design Week was also from an Austrian designer, Mischer Traxler. Did you miss it?

Claudia.
